Auckland’s vegan food offering is getting better by the year, and my latest go-to spot is showing no signs of slowing down.
Always pumping and filled with plant-based-loving Aucklanders, Kind Cafe is Morningside’s brightest and best when it comes to vegan food.
Inspired by author Michael Pollan’s philosophy to ‘eat food, not too much, mostly plants,’ Kind’s menu offers a wonderful and luscious selection of dishes that showcases just how far plant-based fare has come.
Weekends are the only time I have free to enjoy a long boujee brunch, and since the weather was so gorgeous today I was all the more eager to venture out for a bite.
Kind is always packed out during weekends, but we managed to grab a table straight away (narrowly avoiding my hunger turning into hanger).
My tastebuds have had the pleasure of enjoying Kind’s brunch and dinner dishes, from their unreal ‘Granola Reimagined’ to the so-good-it-should-be-illegal Mushroom Tagliatelle.
Since I’m a true millennial, I couldn’t pass up their avocado on Midnight Baker bread. Coming with smoked chilli peanut butter, pistachio dukkah, and macerated heirloom tomatoes, it was just the thing I needed.
My friend opted for the ‘BBQ Chipotle Breakfast Taco’ coming with pulled jackfruit and NZ herb aioli. I don’t know if you’ve ever had pulled jackfruit, but it’s a life-changing experience. So juicy. So flavourful.
Whether you live in Auckland or are passing through, you can’t not visit this stunner of a cafe. The staff are always warm and cheerful (which makes all the difference IMHO), and their cabinet of sweet treats (all vegan) will send you over the edge.
